Blue Springs Quarry, Waldron Indiana

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

We had a great turnout for our annual P.A.D.I. Project A.W.A.R.E. this past Sunday. A total of 36 friends and volunteers helped clean up Blue Springs Quarry in Waldron, IN just south of Shelbyville, IN.  The weather was warm and muggy making it nice to jump in the water and cool off.  We had volunteers from Martinsville, Shelbyville, Indianapolis, Bloomington, Columbus and even friends from down near the Ohio River.  We picked up approximately 25 pounds of trash, some recycleable, from the bottom of the quarry and surrounding land areas.

We want to thank the management and owners of Blue Springs Quarry for letting us conduct this annual event.  We want to also thank the Greene County Solid Waste Management and Shelby County Solid Waste Management District for picking up the bags for donating bags and employee time.  Thanks also goes to the Carol Swartz from the Shelbyville News for covering our attempt to clean up even a small amount of our environment.

Again, we especially want to thank our many friends and volunteers for making Project A.W.A.R.E a definite success.
