THE PLAIN TRUTH ABOUT ALUMINUM
CYLINDERS
Southern Indiana Scuba is a hydro retester, PSI/PCI inspector as well
as a PSI/PCI inspector trainer. With over 20 years of experience
in the cylinder business, we will fill any cylinder that passes a PSI/PCI
visual inspection, eddy current test and current hydro test.
So if your dive center is telling they won't fill your cylinders
because they are too old or unsafe just because it is 6351 metal, bring
the cylinders to us. As long as it passes the standards set by PSI/PCI,
OSHA, CGA and DOT we will fill the cylinders.
Don't waste your money purchasing new cylinder
just because your cylinder is more than 20 years old.
They use words like 6351 or 6061 or a 20 year rule or other confusing
information. The plain truth from DOT about 3AL aluminum cylinders
is that as long as they pass visual, hydro retest and eddy current on
6351, they are safe to remain in service.
There is no time limit on the 3AL metal cylinders.
We have
seen a dive center state on their web page, good luck finding someone
that will fill your cylinder. Tell
them you have found one.
If the cylinder fails hydro retest, or a visual or eddy current test,
we will condemn that cylinder, but as long as they pass, we will fill
them.
So don't let a lot of confusing talk get you lost. If you have
any questions about your cylinder, aluminum, steel or fiber wrap, just
give us a call or stop by. |
