Who should take this course?

If you’ve always wanted to take scuba diving lessons, experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. Get your scuba diving certification with the PADI Open Water Diver course – the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through this course.

To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

The PADI Open Water course is broken into three phases.

Phase 1 - 
This is completed by PADI eLearning.  Follow this link to sign up and complete at your leisure. PADI eLearning sign up

Phase 2 - Pool Session: You will learn to master the skills you have read about in elearning.  In this phase you will be provided a regulator, BCD, cylinder, weights and wetsuit to use in the pool.  You will need to provide mask, fins, snorkel and boots that is scuba quality.  We offer the different packages as well as you can mix and match a set.  This phase is offerred in group lessons or private lessons

Phase 3 - Open Water Dives: You will complete four open water dives in which you demonstrate your skills either locally with us or complete on one of our trips, or you can receive a referral to a PADI Dive Center to complete on your own 

Southern Indiana Scuba offers these phases seperaetly allowing for a more flexable schedule and additional cost savings for referrals.

You can enroll in the pool course by contacting us or stopping by the store or purchasing from our online store. Your PADI Instructor will schedule time with you to check your progress and make sure you understand important scuba diving information.

What Equipment will you use?

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use your basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, and boots as well as our regulator, buoyancy control device and a cylinder.
