We at Southern Indiana Scuba share, with all other caring Americans,
the grief and dismay over the attack on our nation, our freedoms, and way
of life on September 11, 2001.
We empathize with the families of the fallen heroic firefighter and law enforcement agencies. One of our dive instructors and some clients are in the law enforcement and medical rescue professions. Kim's sister-in-law occasionally worked with and in one of the Trade Center Buildings. Fortunately, she was elsewhere on 9/11. Our hearts are heavy to think that our friends and family could have been among the casualties.
You can find a touching tribute to the victims of 9/11 on the web site at www.politicsandprotest.org. If that site is down, we have a copy of the site on CD-Rom at Southern Indiana Scuba.
These acts of terrorism have affected our lives unlike anything since December 7, 1941. I was too young to remember Pearl Harbor, but hearing my father and older relatives describe the changes brought about by the attack, it seems that Pearl Harbor and the recent attack were wake-up calls for Americans.
Many "arm-chair-quarterbacks" are busy giving solutions to our dilemma with a lot of "We should do this," and "We should do that." Since government and military officials are privileged to information about the response to the attack that we do not have, we are willing to trust their skill and judgment in the resolution of the problem. Southern Indiana Scuba stands behind our country and our leaders in this time of need.
We at SIS think that the best approach for individual Americans is the course suggested by our leaders, that is, get on with our lives in as normal manner as possible. If we live in fear, our enemy has won.
We at SIS have traveled to Florida, Cozumel, and Belize since the 9/11 event. Our observation is that traveling has never been safer with the added security at travel terminals. On these three trips, the diving was great and our folks enjoyed themselves. The fun and recreation helped to relieve their anxiety over the recent events. Join us on our travels. Start enjoying your favorite sport again.
Sincerely,
Mark Brooks

UPDATE 9/5/2002
It has been a year and we are still recovering
from this terror act. We will never forget what happen! Let's
show the world that we can go on with our lives, no matter what they try
to do to us.
